We stopped here today. I was here about ten years ago before the new visitor center and memorial were completed. I would recommend the stop to anyone driving across PA on the turnpike. It is very convenient and hardly out of the way. Of all the incredible stories from 9/11 I think flight 93 was the most incredible. These were ordinary people, not police, firemen or soldiers, just folks on a plane, mostly guys on business travel. Their actions, with only moments to consider them, clearly prevented a plane from hitting Congress or the White House. The memorial does a good job of telling their stories, with pictures, video and words. I was unable to listen to the recordings of the phone calls some of them made prior to storming the cockpit. The site is in the Laurel Highlands and quite peaceful. The memorial itself at first seems a little stark but I liked it. It's a fitting tribute to real American heroes.

One of the passengers on Flight 93 was Colleen Fraser who was active in the disability movement in NJ at the same time I was involved. I had met Colleen through mutual friends. http://old.post-gazette.com/headlines/20011028flt93fraserbiop8.asp
